Most of the raw materials of recycled fabrics come from plastic bottles or waste clothes. It seems that the cost of using cheap “garbage” will be greatly reduced, but it is not the case. Because:
1. The cost of recycled raw materials is higher.
2. The international recognition of recycled fabrics comes entirely from the “GRS” certificate, which costs more than USD10,000/year.
3. The difference in printing and dyeing, finishing and other production processes, increases the processing cost also.
How much extra cost of recycled swimwear?
Usually, there are two kinds of fabrics used in swimwear, Polyamide Spandex and Polyester/spandex
1. Recycled polyamide/spandex is about 70-80% higher than normal one
2. Recycled polyester/spandex is about 50-60% higher than normal one
so does the swimwear also need so high extra percentage cost? 50% or 80%? No, because the fabric dosage of different styles is different. and depend of which fabric you will use, for example,
baby swimwear, kid swimsuit, girls bikini, these styles use less fabric, and if you choose recycled polyester/spandex, generally only about 10-20% more expensive, but if it’s ladies Plus Size Swimsuits, because of the large amount of fabric, the cost will be about 15% – 30% higher.

What’s the MOQ?
Since now the recycled fabric is more and more popular, so usually fabric suppliers will stock some grey fabrics. In case, there is no stock fabrics, it need to ordered specially, it requires MOQ 500kgs, an order can have different styles, but the total order Qty should be between 3000-8000 pieces which depend on the fabric used.
