Hot stamping print started at 1980s which were used on wedding dress designed by a famous designer in Milan, and went into the China market at 1990s, the technique got mature at 2001. So it already has more than 40 years history, and it is still popular in the market. Along with people’s living standards getting better and better and demands getting higher and higher, more and more personalized swimsuits are in need, so the foil print gets more and more popular because of its magnificence and brilliance, which attracts people much.
There are many kinds of hot stamping printing, different ways are in different processes. Today, I’m not going to introduce all of them, I will focus on below kinds of popular foil print ways used on more and more fashion designer swimwear.
1. Pigment paste foil print
It’s a traditional screen foil print. When touch the surface of this kind of foil prints, you can’t feel any glue or lamination on the surface. There are 3 ways of this print.
- First way: use the gilding paste and do foil print on the cutting fabric peices, and then sew into excellent designed swimwear. It is usually printed as a logo or a cartoon print etc. at the front center of custom made swimsuits. It can be in silver color, golen color, other solid foil color etc..
It makes the whole unique swimwear have their own label, their own name.

- Second way: use the gilding paste and do allover foil print on the solid fabric directly and then cutting into piece and finally sew as excellent designed swimsuits.

2. Heat transfer foil print
To be simple, the process of heat transfer foil print is that based on a certain pressure and temperature, use the template installed on the heat printing machine to make the printed fabric and the foil print plate press together in a short time, and transfer the metal foil or color pigment foil according to the holographic requirements of the heat printing template to the surface of the printed fabric, the print area after foil print will get a metallic texture.
Heat transfer foil print can be also designed to be printed as a logo/cartoon print etc. at the center front of custom made swimsuits, like below shown girls printed one peice swimsuit.
